A Short Bio

Allison M. Fox began her career in music over a decade ago in her hometown of West Hartford, CT. It was there that she first studied and fell in love with music performance while playing her primary instruments: drums and percussion. She decided to further her education at the University of Delaware where she was a member of Jazz Bands, Steel Bands, Symphonic Bands, Pit Orchestras, Percussion Ensembles, Marching Band, and The Jay Hoad Band. After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music and Minor in Jazz Studies, Alli moved to New Orleans, LA where her musical experiences and influences grew. In addition to developing as a performer, it was there that she first discovered the field of Music Therapy. Alli moved to NY to partake in an internship at the Institute for Music and Health before running her own rehabilitative music interventions in long term care facilities, day programs, and clients’ homes. Today she is a Therapeutic Recreation Director and Music Specialist at the Alzheimer’s Resource Center in Connecticut. She also teaches music lessons privately, and free-lances with local musicians and groups such as Kate Callahan, and Strings Attached. While drumming remains her area of expertise, she also enjoys playing guitar, piano, bass guitar, and singing. Alli is currently a Master of Arts degree candidate at Lesley University where she is studying Expressive Therapies and Music Therapy with a specialization in Mental Health Counseling. She intends to become a board certified Music Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor and help people live healthier, happier, and more fulfilling lives through music.

Changes in latitude

Hello friends!

So many of you have been asking where I've been this past month, and why I haven't continued to post upcoming shows. The answer is a complicated one, but I'm happy to announce that much of my time has been devoted to the upcoming move I'm in the process of making! As of July first I'll be one of Highland, NY's newest members. But don't worry! I'll still be around the greater Hartford area, and I'll still be teaching at Backbeat. Also, be sure to keep on the lookout for the debut of my newest musical project, The Churchill Syndrome! I'll keep you posted...
